The “in situ” panels have been substituted resulting in cost and economy improvements. In comparison with the I Beams they reduce the height of the structure and are better adapted to railroad bridge platforms.
Depending on the width of the slab, our catalogue includes three different U-Beams:
Narrow U-Beams, less than 1.85 m. wide.
Medium U-Beams, less than 2.60 m. wide.
Wide U-Beams, less than 3.20 m. wide.
The width of the upper part of these beams depends on the height which ranges from 2.90 m. on the smallest beams to 5.20 m. on the larger beams.
The placement of the different types of U-Beams is quite variable. Normally a narrow U-Beam series is used on slabs with two or more parallel beams. The medium and wide series beams are more frequently used on mono-beam slabs.
U- Beams are most commonly used in large isostatic viaducts for optimum results. In the case that a hiperstatic solution is required slab continuity is assured by using Φ 50 mm. prestressed bars between consecutive beams. |
